Well, I've been a bit quiet on the painting front recently, but I have at last managed to get that Guardian Warhost done: http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epiceldar/2022/guardians2-s.jpg (Click for larger image.) Probably a third warhost of Guardians next, although possibly I might do somethin...

Thanks, everyone. Well, as I observed in my last post, last month was Orktober, so it was time for a break from Tiny Space Elves: http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epicorks/mekboygargant-s.jpg (Click for larger image.) This was essentially a test piece for the Ork army that I plan to attempt on...

Thanks. Yeah, I'm still pleased with how well the colour scheme came out on this army. Up next it's a Warlock Titan: http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epiceldar/2022/warlock-s.jpg (Click for larger image.) This is another forumware piece. It also means that I've now painted all of the new stuff...

Thanks, everyone! So, as promised, here's a Guardian Warhost, with assorted weapon platforms: http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epiceldar/2022/guardians1-s.jpg (Click for larger image.) I think I have five Guardian warhosts in the old version of this army, but I will probably limit myself to ju...

Hmm. It's been a while, hasn't it?

However, I promised Striking Scorpions, and so here they are!

Next up will be Guardians. Hopefully before the end of the month!

I've only recently tried using contrast paints but I've mostly been pleased with how they've worked on 6mm infantry. Techniques like drybrushing, washes, zenithal priming and contrast paints all tend to be very effective for creating the high-contrast look that suits models at this scale.

I've been a bit quiet lately, but I have not been entirely inactive. I have been a bit more focussed on my BFG Eldar, but the Epic army has also received some love. Last month I painted up a third troupe of Falcons: http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epiceldar/2022/falcon-troupe-3-s.jpg (Click f...

Lovely work on those old-school marines. Fills my heart with warm fuzzy nostalgia!

Nice. Those Thunderers have a really hefty look to them.

In theory, they should be quite poseable. The feet, shins and thighs are separate pieces and the hips, waist, shoulders and neck are all ball-and socket joints. However, if you wanted to put it together in a pose other than standing fairly straight upright, I suspect you'd have to do quite a bit of ...

Well, fresh from success at the GT (I didn't actually win any games, but was delighted to take away the Judges' Choice for Best Army), I have added this Phantom Titan to the army: http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epiceldar/2022/phantom-s.jpg (Click for larger image.) Thanks, guys. Yeah, I remember well the fragility of FW resin for Epic models. A few of my old Falcons have some slightly dodgy repairs where aerials or pulse lasers snapped off, and I have a couple of Wave Serpents that I never even painted because the front of the shield generator snapped off and ...

By a very narrow margin, it was the Swooping Hawks that were finished first. http://www.axelfendersson.co.uk/images/epiceldar/2022/swoopinghawks-s.jpg (Click for larger image.) These models are lovely designs but I do have some serious concerns about their fragility. I've already had a couple of bre...
