Allies can make a really interesting variation to the game, but sadly their presence can (and often will) unbalance a list. The Harlequin list is an attempt to provide just such a list that uses allies. The intention behind this particular list was to encourage the use of other Eldar lists as an all...

Not a bad thought, though it may require some changes to the lists, or definitions of what constitutes a ‘commander’ for Orks, Tau etc. So, if I have understood the proposition, all lists might need a commander per four formations or suffer some penalty, and where that ratio is reduced, the same pen...

Agreed Dave. A similar thing happens where a counter-charge contacts a unit from a third formation and they win, or where a Fearless WE loses an assault but does not withdraw, and is still in contact at the start of the following turn. In all such cases, units that are in B2B contact with the enemy ...

In that case Kyrt, you place the BM on the transport since it is the nearest unit, even though you cannot damage it.

When this was discussed the dim and distant past (specifically with respect to OW against multiple formations under a Commander), I thought Neal ruled that the BM was placed on the formation ‘nearest’ to the firer - effectively on the nearest unit. If so, it would depend on whether the Mob dismounte...

Agreed, and this has always been the case as dptdexys points out. As long as the formation started the assault in a position to support, irrespective of whether it was able to actually provide the support (because the relevant units did not have a FF value, or because targets were killed etc.), then...

Thanks for reading up on the development and for the comments. If you are starting out in E:A, there are much easier ways to go about it. Typically we advise starting situé core lists (marines, orks, Imperial guard) to pick up the rules and tactics before moving on to more esoteric lists. Like many ...

Try searching for "Drone" in the Tau threads, there are extensive discussions. Note, the current lists mention gun drones as an upgrade to Crisis suits, but don't give a stat line for them. I have a feeling that various drone types were tried in the dim and distant past, but dropped for si...

Without pods, then yes you would have to scatter each unit, potentially leaving them a long way apart . . .

Why not allow the formation to pay for pods??

Unsure what the problem is here. If you read the notes against the Drop Pod, they are the same as codex marines, and carry a formation, not just a unit. Basically you place and scatter the drop pod and then place each unit of the formation on the marker or within 5cm of another unit in the formation...

So in summary, ⋅ Everyone, on this and the earlier thread , thinks that Variable Armour is a good idea. ⋅ This approach would be tidier than using Invulnerable Save. ⋅ IS probably ought to be reserved for characters and ‘special’ instances. However, ⋅ IS does ...

Well NONE of the lists would be change without tests. This is 100% limited to the rule text and nomenclature of the RA ability. All existing units/lists would remain the same until an AC decided to trial and modify and test and then submit to the ERC. So it's kinda a bagatelle to claim this would a...

So far, a moderately positive response from all. Surprising. Dave, how easy would it be to edit the current NetEA lists to change all entries for “RA” to read “RA (x)”, where “x” is the current armour value? - So Land Raiders and Terminators would now have notes that read RA(4) Steve(s), same questi...

Unfortunately, the effort involved in agreeing the values and then implementing them across numerous army lists together with the attendent discussions over ‘changing’ rules and the desire to retain known stats etc. makes this great idea highly unlikely at best. The values stay as they would be wit...

I have long campaigned for “variable RA” to no avail. This would allow far better distinctions between different units as well as graduating their armour values better. For example; If it is felt that Terminators should not be as tough as Land Raiders, this could be achieved; Eldar tanks could be gi...
