To be honest knowing what the "old" epic models look like can just add to the confusion as the models produced by GW for the current 40k ranges look vastly different. Look at the difference between a space marine era ork and a modern 40k 28mm ork, or a space marine eldar grav tank and the ...

I'm using some of the flyers for aeronautica Imperialis. I use the stukhog as a lightning strike, and the proxy potential for most of the other flyers is really obvious, so probably doesn't need mentioning. Of course some eloi flyers would be lovely, but given that Vanguard would probably never sell...

I guess I'm really unimaginative with mine - although I have to say without the DID range I'd never be able to get that DKOK army I keep promising myself.

Now that's cool.

Being able to switch prows mid game as the Q ship is revealed would be a fun option. A few magnets might do the trick.

The model looks amazing, but there's quite a lot of visible weaponry for a Q ship?

Yes, but how do you glue those lovely pewter minis into the holes?

I'm really not trying to pick holes, by the way. I really want these bases to be good (mainly 'cos I will probably end up buying some).

Really pleased to hear that!

One question, though - I'm assuming that you're laser cutting the acrylic?

Given that most folks will superglue the two halves together they might experience some rather nasty crazing of the plastic. Extruded is worst, but it can also happen with cast...

To be fair the imperial stuff is usually not too bad (£10-£15 per plane being not too bad, by the way) it's the eldar and tau that go for silly money.

'tis better to be patient and wait for someone on this forum to advertise in the trading section.

lIf you're searching ebay for forgeworld lightnings you'll also need a second mortgage.

Thanks.

The camera's cruel sometimes and it's highlighted a few flaws I now need to correct.

The opponents are likely to be some chaos aircraft devoted to Tzeentch so I can pretty much guarantee they won't be understated. ::)

I've recently rediscovered Aeronautica Imperialis, mainly due to painting the big blue drop ship from TMG. So much so my Imperial Navy Lightnings have finally been finished: http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/19/10/25/12/2015_114.jpg http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/19/10/25/12/2015_115.jpg http://i21.servimg...

Thanks for the kind comments folks. These models are a real pleasure to paint. In fact the big blue bird has rekindled an interest in another oop and even more critically endangered 6mm GW game: http://i21.servimg.com/u/f21/19/10/25/12/2015_113.jpg As soon as they are in stock I'll be ordering some ...
