Just wanted to add an update to this post. I have uploaded the STL file to CGTrader.com, and while doing that, I split it up into pieces to make it easier to print for printers with smaller print beds.

I tried Blender and just couldn't get past the GUI, so now I use Sketchup for everything.

I completely agree, Malika! Sadly, I'm largely designing for the printing limits of Shapeways' WSF. You know how uppity they get about those fine edges.
