Given that some posters in the FB thread thought that either the whole template or the centre of the template had to be in range, no it's not 'only 3cm'... :-\ For the players who thought the whole template should be in range (and 4cm strip bases in the target formation), it's an increase of 10cm or...

Ya, you're not going to run into it with indirect barrages all that often, given how large their ranges are relative to a 4x6' table. Given that it happened with a Griffon puts another check in the marginal column. Who takes Griffons? [raises hands] but yeah not in anything NetEA based (the Tallarn...

Where it kicks in frequently is for Death Guard, where both the Plaguereapers and Plaguehounds have 30cm direct-only barrages.

I totally disagree. This could lead to players having to place models in such a way as to take into account the range of artillery plus base sizes. Along with this it is also a further hit on large unit formations. Having played this way for several years, it's not noticeably different in terms of ...

Hence asking why the relevant FAQ has been removed, because there's a substantial number of players that read the barrage rules as needing part of the template (or even the centre of the template) to be in range and LoF.

Does anyone know when this FAQ entry was removed from the Tournament Pack? Q: Barrage templates – is it possible to place the first template over units to whom no LoF exists as long as there is a LoF to at least one unit under the template? Can I hit units I can’t see? A: Yes. As noted, only a singl...

So the rule is that skimmers must be closer to the terrain than their target, or they can't see the target. It also works in with the 'can't see 10cm into the terrain. In this case I had a unit that was sitting 'arse out' so to speak. They were half into teh terrain, thus ensuring they couldn't be ...

The first six batreps on http://wargamingtrader.com/tags/battle-report are for various versions of NetEA Death Guard, but nothing more recent than 0.4.3. However the lists aren't always typical as I tend to be trying out new unit changes and 'forcing' stuff like fully tooled out Chosen.

Deploying stretched like that will really make them easy targets to destroy. Generally terrain won't be set up to optimally let you both obstruct view and deploy even close to the way you are suggesting in the diagram. In which case once again the tower is the no brainer choice. Polite request - pl...

For garrisoned Contagions: The back of one unit (25mm base) being within 15cm of the table edge plus 5cm coherency plus 25mm bases on the rest of the formation gets you 25cm into the table with a single unit used for stretching: garrison-barrage.jpg So no it's not a third by area, but it's about hal...

Contagions are usually the first thing I add to a list after two Retinues, so we're definitely seeing a difference of opinion in their usefulness. I'll typically garrison off the Blitz if my opponent places the other objectives in awkward positions, usually with a 'Blitz guard' Retinue or these days...

Oh my. I can picture my regular opponents' brains exploding if I suggest reducing the price of the Contagions. ;D As far as points across lists go, both Contagions and Plague Towers appear to more powerful in the context of a Death Guard army than a LatD army due to better synergies and the impact o...
