I've seen a number of people use the contrast paints over a metallic silver basecoat to achieve similar results in 28mm. Might be worth experimenting with to see if it works in 6? |

Ayup, broken portals are still portals, so it can actually be highly advantageous for the Necron player to have the monoliths break and get a free move out of it.
The newer in-progress Necron list adds some blast marker penalties for moving through a broken portal. |

Unfortunately, you'll never be able to fix the pigments exactly as they look dry, it's just not physically possible (adding any sort of fixer changes the way the pigments sit). if true, a bit dodgy as there's a no commercial clause on the license.
