I know JZ has earlier mentioned 4Grounds 10mm terrain, but they've recently rescaled is to what they call 'Micro Scale'. Their definition: Micro-scale products are perfect in size for 6mm - true scale 8mm models https://www.4ground.co.uk/scifi-micro Looks purpose designed for AT... Regards Harry

I like the idea of holofield(x). I hate army specific rules. I'm ok with race rules that covers a number of lists, but army specific ones on niche list always surprise me. Which would entail a shit load of testing. Could initially the current ones just be left Holofield (3) which would be no change?...

That's fair enough. I'm on the fence whether they should have a holofield save (3+ as the rules) or 5+ reinforced in the vein of the Engines of Vaul. I just don't see why their needs to be a compromise. Chose one - determine points value accordingly. I really want this list to move forward. I think ...

Yep, and people who play tyranids, tau and necrons think their special rules are really easy to understand as well.

Or could we just design lists in accordance with the rules as written?

Because the rules say a holofield save is 3+. Not whats in a brackets after it. Invulnerable Save is defined as a 6+ save in the core rules, but it still gets modified to other values in all sorts of lists. Don't see a reason why you couldn't do it to Holofields as well. Does it? I'm not aware. I t...

Don't really get why a 5+ Holofield save is so problematic? It's like 3+ holofield... But on 5+. The point being that they still get to save against e.g. TK weapons, which shouldn't be better at hitting stuff with Holofield. Giving them 1DC with 3+ holo could be an alternative tho. Because the rule...

Because a 3+ Inv save, or a 5+ RA save is a lot worse than a 5+RA save with a 5+ inv. You could use either of the first two, but the unit's survivability will be much lower than what it was in 4.2.5. All I'm saying is that 4.2.5's 5+RA with an additional 5+ invulnerable can be modeled with a 5+RA w...

They had 5+ RA with a 5+ inv in 4.2.5. That's effectively 5+RA with a holofield, and you only have to role two dice instead of three. Not following where you're going? Why not just give them a 3+ holofield save (not reinforced) as per the rules for holofields and then it's one roll? Or use the rule...

Assume holofield is mistake, as if changing inv save to holofield they also need reinforced armour otherwise they only have a single 5+ save. Even 5+/5+ they die quickly. In game report above I assumed this was a mistake and treated them as 5+/5+ saves. Where did Holofield (5+) come from? Not suppo...

Is this a place to go 'old school' and bring back the Spirit Troupe? 3 Wraithguard and 3 Waithlords for 300 points. Replace 3 Wraithlords with 3 Wave Serpents for free. Add a Spirtseer (see Iyandan) for 50 points? This makes the Titan Vampire irrelevant...maybe replace with a hunter? Not sure where ...

Dave

It doesn't look like the discount for pairs of Land Raiders and Vindicators made it into the Scion of Iron list.

Deliberate or oversight?

kyuss Very amicable. I think you have absolutely satisfied everyone's position with this decision. Kudos to you. I'm not really sure why a new development list could not just be called something else and the Scion of Iron list couldn't progress with tweaks that are being proposed for other Marine li...

Look, all I'm asking is if you want to develop a heavy mechanised list or combined arms or whatever else, go and do it. Have fun. I really, genuinely want you to have fun. Just start a new list, call it something different and leave the Scions of Iron list alone. Then those of us who enjoy the Scion...

In my mind Scions of Iron is an army that is rarely used (based on battle reports, discussions, etc. on Taccom) Just because it doesn't crop up on Taccomd often, doesn't mean it's rarely used. Go have a scroll through PFEs blog and you'll see it is played by his group regularly. And it's probably t...
