Heresy Marine Legions

Back To Additional Rules

During the Horus Heresy, nine of the Emperor's Space Marine Legions turned to the darkness and made war upon Ancient Terra. Though they were defeated by those Space Marines who stayed by the Emperor's side, the Traitors were not destroyed, only driven back to the Eye of Terror. Their forces have since fragmented into dozens of marauding warbands, but there are a few units that hold together as the remainders of their former Legions. These are terrible armies, ruthless and warped by millenia in the Eye. When they venture into the material universe they leave a path of desecration and destruction in their wake unlike any other. Their ships are less numerous than they once were, but they are powerful vessels and many of the Imperium's finest ships have fallen to their guns.

The rules below are optional additions to the Chaos Space Marine List found here. They may only be used with your opponent's consent and are in no way official (yet). If you choose to use these rules, your entire fleet must made from a single list, you may not mix and match.

EMPEROR'S CHILDREN

All Fleet Commanders must take the Mark of Slaanesh. No Marks other than Mark of Slaanesh may be taken. All capitol ships and escort squadrons without fleet commanders must take the Mark of Slaanesh for +25 points. Note that the effects of the Mark are not cumulative; a ship within 15cm of two vessels with the Mark of Slaanesh will not be reduced to -4 Ld.

IRON WARRIORS

An Iron Warriors Chaos Fleet Master must take the Mark of Chaos Undivided. Iron Warriors Chaos Space Marine Lords must take the Mark of Undivided at +20 points, except one Chaos Space Marine Lord may take the Mark of Khorne at the normal cost. If the Chaos Fleet Master is placed on a Battle Barge he may opt to exchange the Battle Barge's torpedoes for a Nova Cannon at +30 points.

NIGHT LORDS

No Marks of Chaos may be taken. Nightlords vessels may always make two teleport attacks in one turn, rather than the normal limit of one. The second attack must be directed at the same target. Night Lords vessels that attempt to disengage roll 3D6 and discard the highest roll.

WORLD EATERS

All Fleet Commanders must take the Mark of Khorne. No Marks other than Mark of Khorne may be taken. All vessels and escort squadrons without fleet commanders must be given the Mark of Khorne at +20 points. All vessels will test for special orders other than AAF on 3D6, discarding the lowest die.

DEATHGUARD

All Fleet Commanders must take the Mark of Nurgle. No Marks other than Mark of Nurgle may be taken. All capital ships and escort squadrons without fleet commanders must be given the Mark of Nurgle at +20 points.

THOUSAND SONS

All Fleet Commanders must take the Mark of Tzeentch. No Marks other than Mark of Tzeentch may be taken. All capital ships and escort squadrons without fleet commanders must be given the Mark of Tzeentch at +15 points. However, unless a vessel carries a fleet commander, its re-roll may only be used on itself.

BLACK LEGION

+++ACCESS DENIED+++INQUISITORIAL CLEARANCE LEVEL OMEGA-BLACK REQUIRED+++

WORD BEARERS

A Word Bearers fleet may not take any Fleet Commanders. However, any Word Bearer's capital ship or escort squadron may be given any Mark of Chaos.

Mark of Nurgle Clarification:

If the mark of Nurgle is given to an escort squadron, nominate one escort to recieve the additional hit point. The vessel must be distinguishable from the other vessels in the squadron. The rule that the vessels may not be boarded applies to all of the escorts in the squadron. This applies to the Word Bearers as well as the Deathguard.
