I am very happy to be able to present Project: Distant Darkness. This presents cutting edge vessels from the Tau, new developments, background, new fleet lists, scenarios and loads more to add to your games. It has been put together by a dedicated group of BFG players, lead by horizon/Roy, so congratulations to them all.

Thanks, CyberShadow

Project: Distant Darkness (in PDF format) - Version 1.0

From the introduction...

A few Tau’cyr ago Tau High Command decided to initiate a project that would change Tau warfare in space. The Unity would finally receive a fleet that had the potential to sweep through new systems. A fleet which would spearhead the Fourth Phase Expansion and more. It was at that time that project Distant Darkness was initiated. My dream of a Great expanding Unity.

Then we suffered a major drawback. At the meeting at the Orbital City of D’yanoi, the administration reported that the needed resources to start work on a full fledged fleet would have a too high of an impact on Tau industry. High Command was quick, too quick in my opinion, to reduce the size of the project. After a short round of voting, won by the conservative majority, it was elected that only the Lar’shi’vre would be subject to the project group.

I put my initial disappointment aside because if this is what the Unity wants then I will serve for the Greater Good. I made it my task to create a combat vessel which would strike fear into our enemies, be they Gue’la, Or’leath or otherwise.

The Art of Command (in PDF format) - Version 1.0

From the introduction...

Why a supplement? When Chris and I developed and wrote Project Distant Darkness we created a vision. The original fle was only a beginning to a grand story arc. Even before the ‘Revival’ pdf went online we had established the storyline for ‘The Art of Command’. As we progressed the story it soon became apparent one supplement would not justifcation to the various plotlines and ‘Distant Sun’, the second supplement was started up as well. ‘Distant Sun’ will be released very soon and details the conclusive stories of our main protanogists. But first things frst, within ‘The Art of Command’ we follow the story of Ry’zon, the Kor’O who searches his Greater Good, Ly’tan who dreams of a strong Empire but is caught within treachery, Wt’ail his schemes and the path of the other Kor’s as they strife to their part.

In essence ‘The Art of Command’ is a scenario set, which are placed over the various chapters, kept together by small parts of a larger story.

Distant Sun (in PDF format) - Version 1.0

Distant Sun presents a number of narative-based, escalating scenarios for your Tau fleets, linked by a central story-arc.

From the introduction...

When the Tau High Command dismantled the unwarranted Project Distant Darkness, they kept the majority of information away from the public eye. Only small streams of information leaked through, though they were repelled, denied, or declared false very quickly. Under guidance of Aun’O Mealuo the Tau’Va dedicated a small task force, under command of Kor’O A’zju, to search the small band of Tau vigilantes.

Anti Tau propaganda initiated by rebellious gue’la factions had increased massively and this inner threat required more resources than the High Command wished for. To their favour, the Farsight Enclaves made great eforts against the Or’es’la and Gue’la incursion forces, which was a relief to the Empire’s military assets. Additionally, Tau command made use of Gue’vesa to help control, mitigate, and root out the rebellious numbers among the their people. Most of those rebelling or opposing Tau rule were frst generation citizens, while those seeking to prove their loyalty tended to be second and third generation citizens.

Trough the relentless eforts of Ry’zon, L’ikei, Tas’ka, Sheva’s and Nua’ta, various pirate, Or’es’la and other threatening factions had been pushed out of the Empire’s realms. By creating diversions – hinting at their presence – guiding transports and information probes they led the Tau forces to places where they would be needed most. Teir covert operations were executed at a high level of precision to avoid the military Tau vessels whenever possible. In the past Kai’rotaa they only fell once into a prolonged fre fght with other Tau vessels, but a canny manoeuvre by L’ikei and Nua’ta insured they could safely retreat to their Novamarines base.

As of late, much of the Tau crew had become ill of a Tau specifc disease and unfortunately the Novamarine base did not have the necessary medical equipment in stock. While Tas’ka and Sheva’s tracked down Tau transports shipping medical goods, Ry’zon, L’ikei and Nua’ta lef to investigate the destruction of a long range waypoint at the edge of the Empire…
