Additional Transport Rules

Notes

Sitting around one day, my regular opponent (Commissar Tim) and I stanrted talking about the transport rules - specifically the irritation of not wanting to include light support as it slows down the entire detachment considerably. The Imperial Dreadnoughts are great, but neither of us wanted to use them as the whole detachment would be reduced to a crawl. And they are great models and great in close combat, if they could ever reach it. It didnt seem even plausable that they would be left without transport, and the same goes for the Support Weapons. So, we decided to adapt the transport rules to allow these units to be carried into battle.

Using These Rules

These transport rules replace the original ones. However, you will see that they dont actually change the existing rules at all, just add to them. Embarking and disembarking remain unchanged for all units being transported.

These rules do not affect rules allowing the Thunderhawk (or other flier) to carry tanks and larger equipment. Treat those rules as an alteration to these, and therefore replacing them where conflicts occur. (We dont allow the transporting of vehicles in our games.)

Statistics

Each stand has a size, which dictates how much space it takes up inside a vehicle. So, for example, a Rhino with a capacity of two could carry two infantry stands, or a Dreadnought.

Size = 1
All infantry stands, including command stands, heavy weapon stands, scouts and terminators, unless detailed elsewhere here

Special Rules

Orks: Since Orks do not, technically, have transport vehicles, only infantry may be transported in the usual way (see the Epic rule book). However, one Support Weapon (Big Gunz or Pulsa Rocket) may be carried/dragged instead of two infantry stands as normal. Ork Dreadnoughts may not be transported.
