Additional Rules Epic 40K - Eldar
Spirit Host Detachments Iyanden Craftworld
|
Notes
This list was actually a result of a competition on
www.epic40k.com
to design a Iyanden force using a certain number and type of miniatures. My solution to this was to replace the
Eldar War Host detachment with a custom Iyanden one, to represent the differences in the Craftworld structure. I
didnt win the competition, but I liked the final detachment, and so I thought that I would put it up here for others to
use and tell me what they think of it. I also have small alterations in the overall army in other areas to put
together a Iyanden force. Other Craftworld forces are more simple to put together using the unmodified Eldar
War Host detachment, and picking units in character with the flavour of the army that you are trying to represent.
Also, note that I have included the +5 point increase for each anti-tank weapon, as detailed in Firepower
Magazine.

Background
The Iyanden Craftworld was ravaged by Tyranids, and has never recovered from this cataclysmic event. The
Craftworld is dying. It cannot sustain its population and the numbers wither every year. There are not enough
members of the society to keep the numbers even, and so when war is enevitable they must take the spirit
stones of the dead to fill the ranks. This is abhorant to the Eldar people, but the warriors of Iyanden have little
choice. For this reason, a Iyanden force has few troops, and consists more heavily of Wraithguard and Wraithlords.
The Seers of Iyanden have become adept at communing with the dead spirits, guiding them in the material world
and sharing the knowledge and experience of the dead heros. When the Spirit Seer leads the forces of the dead,
they are able to move and operate more independently, giving them a more flexible structure.

Using These Rules
You can use these rules in two ways. You can either simply add a Iyanden Spirit Host detachment to your existing
Eldar army, representing an allied contingent from the Iyanden Craftworld. Alternatively, you can build a complete
Iyanden army. If you choose to do this then you use all of the detachments from the Eldar army list as normal, except
that your Command detachment must contain at least one Wraithguard unit or Wraithlord for every Guardian or
Aspect Warrior choice in the detachment. Also, in an all Iyanden army, any Wraithguard stand which is upgraded
to include a Warlock gets a Spirit Seer, and the stand has the Infiltrate ability for free (in addition to the usual attributes
and rules for Warlocks).
Additionally, the Iyanden Spirit Host detachment replaces the Eldar War Host detachment in a Iyanden force, so
Iyanden armies may not take a normal Eldar War Host detachment.
