Lego Ninjago!

Blackhorizon —14 August, 2011 - 07:28

Hi, our kids have been collecting Lego for quite a while now. Especially the Ninjago theme. It has a funny backstory, had a cartoon on US television (you can find it on youtube), it has the usual Lego sets but also a game attahed to it with the normal Lego minifigures. It is called Spinjitzu. You place your minifigure on a spinner, let it spin and hope to knock of your opponents spinner to win. With cards you can do special things. But you need enough points to play a card. As all ninja's and skeletons (yes that is the opponent) have their own individual stats based on ice, fire, earth and lightning. Sounds simple. It is, my 4 year old can play it with ease. And that's the fun! A while ago they decided they wanted the flagship of the 2nd release wave, the fire temple. And after carefully collecting money, their weekly 'wage' and more (grandpa's) they bought the set yesterday. And of course they build it. I only assisted when needed. But my daughter build the dragon on her own aside of 2 connections. And our son build the main base part of the temple and both finished it up to the roof. It was a great build with lots of bricks. I am glad Lego has learned from their almost bankrupt issue late ninetees early 2000's. Their bricks went to large and boring. But they are now back in classic mode to be honest. Which is cool. And after they build I ofcourse had to play along. :) whooo-haaa!

Oh, for the day I can get my son interested in Lego. Looks like a pretty good set.

I have seen these in supermarkets, and almost picked up a small Ninja set with a weapons rack and mini lego scorpion. Looks very cool.... and I dont even have kids as an excuse! The sets look pretty cool, and the superhero minifig blind pack sets also look really cool. There is just something about lego minifigs that are cute and awesome.

heh, yeah, nice little packs. We have three. The Ninjago sets indeed do have a good vibe if you see the boxes/sets. Kids already decided next project to save money for: earth dragon. Should not be so hard I'd imagine. And I understand, the dragons are really cool and pretty big. You need to start early with kids & lego, best introduction is duplo. They learn the basics of brick building which is great. It has also led to the fact their Garmadon's Fort sits now on top of the duplo dino cave. Looks cool.
